Having trouble conducting an interview?  Follow this 8 easy steps and you should be able to become a better interviewer in no time!

1)  Do research on your topic.

2)  Get a sense of the type of questions you want to ask.

3)  Prepare some questions.

4)  Answer them yourself to make sure they are not closed-ended questions (Always ask open-ended questions).

5)  Go out and interview someone.

6)  Take good notes.

7)  Make sure to get contact information in case you need to get in touch with them.

8)  Look over your notes after the interview, fill in any blanks you may have.

Always remember to be confident with you questions and don’t shy away from asking them.  Don’t look for the answer you want, always extend the interview if you can because you never know what else the interviewee might say next.  Your entire story angle could change due to one interview, so remember to keep the interview going.
